About

Catherine and Phil are on a momentous voyage of fun and adventure from Melbourne up the east coast of Australia to the islands of Queensland as far north as Lizard Island.

Passage overview

Catherine and Phil’s home port is Sandringham Yacht Club on Port Phillip in Victoria. The first stage of the trip is the delivery of Débonnaire from Melbourne to Airlie Beach. This will be done in three legs as shown by the red line in the chart above. Each leg will take three to five days, 24 hours a day. We will have a crew of five or six divided into watches to sail the boat day and night.

Débonnaire will be based at Airlie Beach. From there we will explore the spectacular Whitsundays and the beautiful coast north to Lizard Island.

Débonnaire is a Beneteau First 45 sailing yacht.  She was launched in 2009. Her overall length is 14.5m and beam 4.2m. The draft of her keel is 2.4m and the mast is 20m tall. She weighs 12t.
